WASHINGTON, D.C. – On 21 May 2026, the Sentro Rizal Washington D.C. of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines welcomed sixth-grade students from Sousa Middle School, together with representatives from the Washington Performing Arts and DC Public Schools (DCPS), for the culmination of this year’s Embassy Adoption Program (EAP) at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C.

As part of their capstone presentation, the students expressed their cultural journey with a video presentation and original poetry inspired by Philippine cultural icons. They also ended with an online pop quiz featuring questions on Philippine history, culture, geography, and traditions.

Earlier in the school year, Sentro Rizal Washington D.C. introduced the students to various aspects of Philippine geography, language, history, heritage, and traditions through engaging and interactive classroom sessions. Students also enjoyed sampling traditional Filipino merienda snacks and beverages as part of their cultural immersion activities.

The Embassy Adoption Program, a partnership between DC Public Schools and Washington Performing Arts, provides students with opportunities to gain global perspectives through direct engagement with embassies and international institutions in Washington, D.C.

The Philippine Embassy, through Sentro Rizal Washington D.C., remains a proud partner of the Embassy Adoption Program and looks forward to continuing its participation in the next school year as part of its ongoing cultural diplomacy and educational outreach initiatives.
